I, myself know what it's like being the good girl and wanting to change. I was like HOW CAN I? When you see all of these women together and making an impact you realize that you can really make change.

Figure Skating in Detroit’s mission is to empower every young girl with the foundational academic, social and leadership skills to achieve her dreams. She has the opportunity to be a powerful speaker, effective leader, live a healthy lifestyle and be a global citizen.

Educating a Girl, Changes the World.

We’re more than a figure skating program, we tackle the life skills that girls need to truly succeed.

HOW WE DO IT

  • We enhance the education experience through after-school programming while offering coaching in the prestigious sport of figure skating teaching confidence, teamwork and excellence.
  • With the changing realities of the pandemic we serve as a direct resource for the emotional support and empowerment of adolescent girls in Detroit.
  • 85% of girls in our FSD programs maintain a B average and we have a 100% graduation rate.
  • We offer career and college readiness to prepare for girls 6-18.
  • It will give us the opportunity of enhancing our program to impact more girls through curriculum and advanced figure skating lessons for our year around program.
