COMMUNITY WORKSHOPS

WORKSHOPS

Figure Skating in Detroit’s community workshops served over 100 girls through three sessions that included introductions to the health, nutrition, academic and leadership aspects of the Figure Skating in Harlem model as well as basics in figure skating. The introductory workshops are meant to give girls and their families a taste of what the full-year after-school program is like . Figure Skating In Detroit will also be offering a summer day camp program for girls throughout the metro Detroit area starting July 31-August 4.

It has been six years since I was that scared, trembling girl who laced up her skates for the first time … I have found strength, sisterhood, and community. I have found confidence, fearlessness and the knowledge that I can do anything I put my mind to, even if I am nervous at first.”
